Our online shop now offers shipping - but not for fireworks

There is a recent important update in our online shop. Certain products can now be shipped directly to your home.

Until now, our shop was fundamentally designed for in-store pickup. There was a simple reason for this. A large part of our range consists of fireworks, which are subject to special regulations.

However, with the growing number of party items, accessories, and decoration products, it became increasingly clear that shipping would be useful for many customers. That’s why we decided to take this step.

However, with an important restriction.

Fireworks remain available only for in-store pickup.

Why we currently do not ship fireworks

Shipping fireworks is basically possible. However, it is significantly more complex than shipping regular products.

Fireworks are classified as hazardous goods. This creates additional requirements for transport, packaging, and documentation.

Many retailers therefore do not offer shipping at all or work with specialized hazardous goods transport services.

We have consciously decided not to take this step yet. The main reason is organizational. Safe and legally compliant shipping of hazardous goods requires appropriate processes and personnel resources.

At the moment, we believe we do not fully meet these requirements yet. Therefore, fireworks remain available only for in-store pickup.

What is now newly possible

We now offer shipping for products that are not hazardous goods. These include, for example:

• Glow sticks
• Party items
• Decoration products
• Various accessories

This responds to a growing range and to customers who want to conveniently order these products to their homes.

Over 700 products in the shop

Our range now includes over 700 products and continues to grow steadily.

To ensure the shop reliably recognizes which items can be shipped and which cannot, we had to revise the entire product structure.

All products were checked and categorized accordingly. Especially older items had to be adjusted retrospectively in some cases.

A new system in the background

To enable the shop to automatically recognize whether a product can be shipped, we introduced a new technical system.

Each product now has an additional metafield. This determines whether an item can only be picked up or can also be shipped.

If a fireworks item is in the shopping cart, a notice automatically appears:

Attention. Your cart contains fireworks. These can only be picked up in-store. Shipping is currently not possible.

This way, customers immediately see which options are available.

The effort behind the change

This change may sound small at first. In practice, however, it meant several hours of work spread over several days.

All products had to be reviewed, missing labels added, and the system technically integrated into the shop.

Since this system was new to us as well, it took a bit longer in some areas until everything worked smoothly.

Such adjustments often happen in the background without customers noticing directly.

Why we are sharing this insight

Our online shop is continuously growing, along with the demands on structure, logistics, and technology.

The new shipping option for non-hazardous products is an important step to make our shop more flexible and make shopping easier for many customers.

At the same time, we remain deliberately cautious regarding fireworks and continue to rely on personal in-store pickup.

Conclusion

With the introduction of shipping for non-hazardous products, we have taken an important step for our online shop.

At the same time, we have created a technical foundation that can grow with our range in the future.

And maybe someday there will be solutions for the safe shipping of fireworks. Until then, we continue to focus on what matters to us.
